Babe Ryan

My little Ryan has this way about him wherein he develops an interest in a subject, and than said interest becomes all consuming. Ryan's interests have made me an expert in the areas of Superman and The Justice League, the Titanic, and much to my dismay, WWE Wrestling. His latest discovery is Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees (much to his Mets fan grandfather's dismay). This started out simple enough. We watched the movie The Sandlot, and it went from there. Here is a picture of Ryan in his new Yankees shirt that my Aunt sent him.

Thanks Aunt Ginny!!

Anyway, he and I have been reading an autobiography of Babe, and finding out all kinds of neat information. Now, understand that Ryan has absolutely no interest in going out and joining a team. He's not much of a joiner, says he just plays "sandlot ball". He has been playing and practicing a lot, but only for the purpose of creating scenes in the imaginary world in which he spends so much of his time. He did, however, tell me the other night, upon being told it was bedtime, that he wanted to be like the Babe and "stay up all night and run the streets". I was happy to report to him that although he did not come from a long line of baseball greats, he did have certain family members that were world champs in the art of staying up all night and running the streets!

Tell him my dad has a ball signed by Babe Ruth REALLY! It's in a container 'cause one time Euge thought it looked faded and ALMOST retraced the signature with a pen! Course Dad has always felt the Dodgers need to move back to Brooklyn
